Selena Gomez Wore a Half-Up Flippy-Lob Hairdo That’s Perfect for Summer
Selena Gomez has given us plenty of beauty inspo over the years, so it’s no surprise that the Rare Beauty founder is once again giving us plenty of inspiration with her latest style. On May 7, the actor was spotted on set filming the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building in New York City.
As temperatures begin to rise, we couldn’t help but notice her hair. For the scene, Gomez wore a half-up, half-down flippy lob as she sat in a yellow car with costars Steve Martin and Martin Short.
Even though it was for her character Mabel Mora, Gomez’s new hairdo is so perfect for summer. The half-up, half-down style is super popular among celebs lately, and for good reason: It’s easy to wear, keeps your hair out of your face throughout the day, and looks so put-together. As the days get warmer, having an arsenal of summer hairstyles to keep strands out of the way is essential, and we’re definitely adding this look to our rotation.
Though some celeb hairstyles can be hard to re-create, it isn’t the case with this quick and easy look. Simply pull the top half of your hair back, apply some styling serum, cream, or gel (to treat frizz and get that slicked-back look), use a boar-bristle brush to keep those wispies in check, and tie the top half back with your choice of a mini claw clip, scrunchie, or whatever else you like using to tie up your hair. It’s that easy.
Gomez first debuted her bob back in October 2024 and has been maintaining the short-hair look since, during appearances on the Oscars red carpet and at the Vanity Fair after-party, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Golden Globe Awards. She’s let it grow out slightly over time, as her bob has evolved into a lob (and we love it both ways).
