David Henrie's Daughter Adorably Carries Selena Gomez Purse to Wizards Premiere
David Henrie’s daughter added a little Alex Russo magic to her look.
The 35-year-old was joined by his wife Maria Cahill and their three children Pia, 4, James, 3, and Gemma, 2, on the red carpet for the premiere of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place in Los Angeles on Oct. 29. The Henrie family was dressed to the nines, as David and Maria coordinated in blue, while their children wore white.
However, it was Pia’s accessory that served as a special touch to the moment. While walking the carpet, Pia proudly paid homage to David’s onscreen sister and costar Selena Gomez, carrying a throwback original Wizards of Waverly Place purse with a picture of her character Alex Russo.
David and Selena, 32, also reunited on the carpet to celebrate the sequel of their breakout Disney Channel series. The pair tapped back into their roles as Justin Russo and Alex for the series sequel centered around Justin’s family and his role training a rebellious young wizard (played by Janice LeAnn Brown).
In fact, everything was just as it seemed (or as they left it) when David and Selena—who are executive producers of the Disney Channel series—stepped back onto their magical stomping grounds.
“When we first walked back, they recreated the wizard lair, in our show,” David told E! News’ Francesca Amiker exclusively during the premiere. “And when I first saw those couches, all these memories came to mind.” (For more from the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place premiere, tune into E! News tonight, Oct. 29 at 11 p.m.)
Outside of magic, family was also a key part of the Rare Beauty founder’s experience on the series. And carrying over a preshow tradition was important.
“What actually made it so special is that we would always do like a group prayer before the show,” Selena shared. “And I loved that. It was such a moment for us to come and be collected before we went out and just gave to our audience.”
As David noted, “A tradition we continue to this day on the new show. “It is such a way to center yourself.”
