Why Selena Gomez ‘Isn’t Rushing’ to Plan Her Wedding to Benny Blanco
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are happily engaged but not racing to the altar. On April 10, a source told Entertainment Tonight that while Gomez has “never been happier,” she and Blanco are taking their time planning the wedding of their dreams.
The source explained, “Selena and Benny are loving all the feedback on their new album [I Said I Love You First]. They’re focused on its success. They haven’t gotten into the thick of wedding planning yet. Selena isn’t rushing into anything.”
The source’s comments are consistent with what Gomez and Blanco have personally revealed about their wedding. Here’s everything the couple has shared so far about their upcoming nuptials. (They announced their engagement in December, so they’ve been engaged for less than half a year.)
Interview magazine asked the couple what their thoughts were on having a destination wedding. Gomez responded, “Honestly, we haven’t even gotten that far. We want to be so happy right now in this moment. But I don’t know. That might be hard for family.”
During an interview with Rolling Stone, Blanco revealed the couple hasn’t made any decisions about what their actual wedding day will look like. But Gomez has an active imagination, he noted: “I think every day she’s planned a new wedding in her head. We’re very much ‘take it one day at a time’-type of people. We’re still not over this moment. Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring.”
Gomez added, “Also, I genuinely feel like this is such a special time that we get to apply it to this album and really just pour our heart into it, and completely translate what we feel and bring it to the world. That’s my main focus right now, at least.”
In early January 2025, Blanco, who is Jewish, confirmed in the couple’s Interview profile that “of course we will” dance the hora during their wedding. Gomez is not converting to Judaism though. “I don’t think I’ll be doing that,” she said when asked. “Not that it’s bad.”
