Justin Bieber Shared A “Pointed” Post Mocking How Women Post On Social Media When They Get Engaged, And Everyone’s Saying The Same Thing
Justin Bieber has been accused of shading his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez with a recent Instagram post.
For context, Justin and Selena dated on and off for eight years, parting ways for good in 2018. Just six months after their final split, Justin got married to Hailey Bieber, whom he now shares a baby boy with.
In late 2023, Selena publicly confirmed that she was dating music producer Benny Blanco, and a year later, they revealed that they were engaged.
Following their engagement, Selena and Benny have remained at the center of public attention — not just because of how obsessed everyone is with their adorable chemistry, but also amid the hype around their new joint album, I Said I Love You First.
Meanwhile, Justin — who is seemingly referenced by Selena on the new album — has found himself attracting attention lately over his flurry of cryptic Instagram posts. And recently, Justin reshared a meme that poked fun at the way women post on social media “when they get engaged.”
The meme, which was reposted to Justin’s Instagram account this week, features a scene from The Lord of the Rings where Gollum closely inspects a ring, holding it up to his eyes in total awe.
Before long, tons of internet users speculated that Justin was “shading” Selena, who recently shared a bunch of photos of her engagement ring when Benny proposed.
Describing Justin’s post as “pointed,” one Reddit user wrote, “This is the first time I’ve seen a post of his and thought ‘oh that actually could be about Selena’. Normally I assume it’s fans reaching but this feels pointed.” Someone replied, “I agree. Usually I agree that fans think too much into these things but this time it seems a bit targeted. It just feels strange since reposting these things will only cause more hate towards him and his wife.”
One person suggested, “Even if it's not about Selena, he had to know that's where people's minds would go when he posted this.” Someone else agreed: “At this point, we can't say that he doesn't know what's going on and that he and his wife will get flack for what he posts. This feels so chronically online of him, which means he knows exactly what's going on. He's adding fuel to the fire, essentially.”
Yikes. Justin hasn’t commented on the speculation, but we’ll let you know if he does. Meanwhile, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
