How Selena Gomez’s Fiancé Benny Blanco Made Her High School Prom Dreams Come True
Benny Blanco’s birthday wish was for Selena Gomez to finally experience prom.
Indeed, as the music produce celebrated his 37th birthday, he had a prom-themed party in order to give his fiancée the prom of her dreams.
“Selena had never been to a prom before,” Benny revealed on the Jennifer Hudson Show April 7. “So, I thought I’d throw us a prom for my birthday.”
And while Selena—who has been candid about her experience being homeschooled amid her childhood acting career—wasn’t sure how to go about prom, her date luckily had plenty of experience.
“I actually got invited when I was younger,” Benny shared. “I got invited twice to prom. One time I went with a friend and then one time I went with a girlfriend.”
Still, the “I Can’t Get Enough” hitmaker—who proposed to Selena in December after more than a year of dating—admitted that the third time with Selena was a charm.
“But my favorite prom was with my partner,” he gushed to Jennifer Hudson. “She didn’t even know. She was like, ‘What am I supposed to wear? What am supposed to do?’ It was like she was really going to prom. I got her a little corsage.”
And while the pair were quick to dress to the nines for the birthday prom, the I Said I Love You First collaborators aren’t in a rush to plan their nuptials, with Selena revealing on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, March 20, "definitely not planning exactly at this moment.”
For the pair, it’s all about basking in the moment of being engaged.
"We’re very much 'take it one day at a time'-type of people,” the “Eastside” hitmaker told Rolling Stone March 17. “We’re still not over this moment. Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring."
