Trace Cyrus Weighs in on Benny Blanco’s “Confidence” in Selena Gomez Relationship
Confidence is the key to a healthy relationship.
At least according to Trace Cyrus, who took a moment to weigh in on Benny Blanco’s recent comments suggesting he thinks fiancée Selena Gomez is out of his league.
Trace posted a screenshot of a headline reading, “Benny Blanco Admits He’s Scared Selena Gomez Will Leave Him,” in a March 6 Instagram Story, adding that if he continues to think that the Only Murders in the Building star is out of his league that will be the “nail in the coffin for the relationship.”
“Men don’t have to be attractive to be with a beautiful woman,” the guitarist, 36, older brother to Selena’s longtime pal Miley Cyrus, captioned the story. “They just need to have confidence.”
But while he had advice for Benny about his confidence, Trace praised the singer for what he knows about him.
“I don’t know Benny personally but I love him as a producer and have watched every podcast he’s done,” the Metro Station alum noted. “Love his personality. And in my view she’s just as lucky to be with him as he is with her. That’s the mindset he needs if the relationship is going to last.”
“Unfortunately nice guys really do finish last. I hope he doesn’t let all the press and jokes get to him about their relationship,” he continued. “Confidence is key as a man.”
Since announcing their relationship publicly in December 2023, Selena, 32, and Benny, 36, haven’t shied away from putting their love on display.
“The Lose You to Love Me” singer famously kept her personal life out of the spotlight, so highlighting her romance with the producer is no accident, explaining to The Hollywood Reporter in November 2024, “I guess this is the safest I’ve ever felt in one and I see a future with this person.”
And the praise for one another goes both ways. “It’s so good because I get her out, and she calms me down when I need it,” Benny shared in a joint interview with Interview on Feb. 14. “She’s the first person that I’ve been with where I’m like, ‘I don’t even give a f-ck what’s going on. I could sit in this bed with you for 72 hours and feel like I didn’t miss anything.’”
He went on to describe Selena as “heroin and Xanax combined.”
“Whenever I’m feeling anything but perfect, she knows the exact thing to say,” he added. “I’m so pissed that it took this long. It’s like, ‘How did we not figure this out sooner?’”
