Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Recreate Their First Date
Selena Gomez hasn’t retired her chef hat.
In fact, the Rare singer recently served a sentimental meal to a special guest: her fiancé, Benny Blanco. The couple reminisced on their romance by visiting the Los Angeles restaurant where they had their first date, and Benny posted the sweet moment on Instagram.
“I thought it would be really cool if we came back and cooked with Jazz [Singsanong],” Benny began the March 10 video, which sees them making shrimp curry at the chef’s Jitlada Thai Restaurant. The 37-year-old producer also introduced Jazz to the camera. “Do you not know who Jazz is? She’s the best person in the world [and] makes the best food.”
Benny started their cooking lesson by dipping a few pieces of shrimp in tapioca flour. Selena then dropped the fish into the deep fryer, and with a little help from Jazz, she cooked them to the perfect temperature and set them aside. After mixing the curry and coconut sauce, the couple—who got engaged last December after one year of dating—created their plate to share.
Benny gushed over the Thai dish as Selena, 32, took a bite, saying, “It looks so perfect.”
Their public love doesn’t stop at Thai food, though. Benny also revealed their other favorite meal doesn’t need step-by-step cooking instructions—unless they’re making it from scratch, of course. For Valentine’s Day, he gifted his fianceé a bathtub filled with nacho cheese and sat a bowl of chips, which read “I <3 You,” on the side.
And when the duo aren’t connecting over decadent food, they’re whipping up magic in the studio. After months of teasing a potential collaboration, Selena confirmed their joint album, I Said I Love You First, will drop on March 21.
The two were also spotted filming a music video possibly connected to the project last month. While they haven’t confirmed if this era will have another intimate visual, the “Same Old Love” star recently announced the inspiration behind the record’s upcoming third single: “Sunset Blvd.”
“Our first date was on Sunset Blvd,” Selena wrote in the March 11 Instagram post, which features a photo of her embracing Benny. “And it’s also the title of our next song together. “Sunset Blvd” out March 14.”
