Kim Kardashian Reveals She Paid for Kris Humphries Engagement Ring—and Had to Give It Back in Divorce
Kim Kardashian is not keeping up with her engagement ring from ex Kris Humphries anymore.
The reality star got candid on her short-lived marriage to the former NBA player, alleging that she "had to" surrender her 18-carat emerald-cut diamond ring as part of their 2013 divorce settlement.
"I didn't keep that," Kim shared during the March 13 episode of The Kardashians, explaining how she was still legally married to Kris—whom she split from in October 2011 after 72 days of marriage—when she became pregnant with her and Kanye West's oldest daughter North West. "In order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring."
The 44-year-old went on to allege that she paid for the ring, while Kris "contributed a fifth" of its cost during their relationship.
Although Lorraine Schwartz—who designed the ring—told Kim that she had made the "best" decision at the time, the SKIMS founder admitted she still had some lingering ire over the ordeal. As she noted, "I would've loved a collection."
So, where's the ring now? Kris ended up auctioning it off for $749,000 after settling his divorce with Kim.
"The ring is indeed Kris' property that he received through his marriage dissolution," his rep told E! News in 2013, adding in a separate statement that the Boston Celtics alum was "very pleased with the final result" of the auction.
Still, Kim has accumulated several significant jewelry pieces over the years. Her 14-carat cushion-cut engagement ring from first husband Damon Thomas actually belonged to mom Kris Jenner, while she kept a 15-carat ring from Kanye in the couple's 2022 divorce settlement.
"My first one that I got engaged with Kanye was a cushion-cut," Kim said, noting that the ring was the "only piece of jewelry" she didn't have with her when she was robbed at a Paris hotel in 2016.
While her second engagement ring from Kanye—which featured a 20-carat emerald-cut diamond—was stolen during the harrowing robbery, Kim said the "original ring that I got proposed to" was the "most important" piece.
She added, "That one I'm gonna give to Northie because she was with me when I got engaged."
New episodes of The Kardashians air every Thursday on Hulu.
