Khloe Kardashian Says the “Demise” of Lamar Odom Hurt Her Entire Family
Khloe Kardashian is still coming to terms with her and Lamar Odom’s reunion.
While looking back on the first meeting she had with her ex-husband, nine years after their divorce, the Good American founder admitted that it’s something that she is still coming to terms with.
“I think I’m still processing what this meeting meant to me,” the 40-year-old explained in the March 6 episode of The Kardashians. “Lamar, because our dad died so young, Lamar was like the first man that ever came into our lives that was the head of the household.”
As Khloe noted, her dad Robert Kardashian Sr. passed away in 2003. “For all of us. Lamar was the protector,” she continued. “Everyone, even if someone was older looked up to Lamar. The way Lamar was on this pedestal, but deservingly.”
Khloe—who was married to Lamar from 2009 to 2016—explained how the end of their tumultuous relationship and his subsequent drug overdose in 2015, not only impacted her, but her entire family.
“It made me sad because the demise of Lamar, hurt and affected every single one my family,” Khloe—who shares kids True, 6, and Tatum, 2, with ex Tristan Thompson—said. “We still love and cherish him but like that man is just not there.”
In fact, after seeing Lamar, Khloe felt like, “I can’t help you anymore. You’ll never be the person that we all idolized.”
Khloe came face-to-face with Lamar during the Feb. 6 episode of The Kardashians, after her friend Malika Haqq arranged a meeting. During the candid conversation, the pair spoke about the end of their relationship, and how Khloe stepped in to care for him in 2015, after he suffered a near-fatal overdose inside of a Nevada brothel.
After their meeting, the former Los Angeles Lakers star revealed the status of his and Khloe’s relationship and why it’s better that they have each moved on.
“So much time has passed,” he said during an interview on the Kyle & Jackie O Show Jan. 19. “And people change. I think it’s healthy sometimes to move on. In a healthy way. Like I said it would be a blessing to be her friend just to be around her.”
