Grammys 2025: Kacey Musgraves Speaks Out on Alleged Beyoncé Diss After Viral Reaction
Kacey Musgraves is shutting down rumors she was on her high horse at the 2025 Grammys.
After a video of her reaction to losing Best Country Album to Beyoncé at the Feb. 2 ceremony went viral, many fans speculated that the "Golden Hour" singer had beef with the "Single Ladies" artist. And now, Kacey is setting the record straight. (To see all the stars who stepped out for the Grammys, click here.)
"It’s a sensationalistic false narrative meant to pit two talented female artists against each other," a rep for Kacey told E! News in a Feb. 3 statement. "There was simply no scowl or expression made."
Prior to Kacey's clarification, fans theorized that the 36-year-old felt ill will toward Beyoncé due to a clip going viral that showed her seemingly unenthusiastic reaction to the "Texas Hold 'Em" singer's Cowboy Carter winning Best Country Album—a category that Kacey's Deeper Well was also nominated in, along with F-1 Trillion by Post Malone, Higher by Chris Stapleton and Whirlwind by Lainey Wilson.
"Is Kacey Musgraves mad that Beyoncé won?" one user asked on X Feb. 2. "She sure looks it."
Another wrote, "Why Kacey Musgraves got on a stank look?"
And while Kacey has now put those rumors to rest, her statement wasn't the first time she spoke out about her thoughts on Beyoncé's place in country music. In fact, the "Golden Hour" singer—whose track "The Architect" took home the award for Best Country Song at the 2025 award show—previously shared that she thought there was plenty of room for Bey in the genre.
“The more the f--king merrier," Kacey told The Cut in March 2024 interview. "I don’t really care. It doesn’t affect what I’m doing. It doesn’t affect me. I’ve always been just doing my own thing."
She added, "It’s just fun to watch.”
