Why Benny Blanco Says Fiancée Selena Gomez Is His “F--king Heroin and Xanax Combined”
Benny Blanco is on an ultimate high with Selena Gomez.
For Valentine’s Day, the 36-year-old producer gave Selena the sweetest gift: an expressive compliment that could double as lyrics from a love song. He gushed over his fiancée as he detailed how his extroverted personality balances out her introverted approach to life.
“It’s so good because I get her out, and she calms me down when I need it,” Benny explained in a joint interview for Interview published Feb. 14. “She’s the first person that I’ve been with where I’m like, ‘I don’t even give a f-ck what’s going on. I could sit in this bed with you for 72 hours and feel like I didn’t miss anything.’”
He then took it a step further, describing Selena, 32, as his “f--king heroin and Xanax combined.”
“Whenever I’m feeling anything but perfect, she knows the exact thing to say,” he continued. “I’m so pissed that it took this long. It’s like, ‘How did we not figure this out sooner?’”
The love didn’t stop there. The couple also shared insight into their December engagement, with Benny revealing how he prepared for that special moment.
“It was the sickest surprise that she had no idea about and it couldn’t have come at a better time because I was starting to f--k up,” he said of the proposal, adding he was trying to be as secretive as possible but Selena noticed his switch in demeanor. “At the end, she was starting to get upset because she was like, ‘Why aren’t you coming home tonight?” And I was like, ‘Oh, I’m just at my friends.’ I almost did it early. But I nailed it, I think.”
The duo aren’t just preparing to be collaborators in life; they’re also making romantic hits together. Selena and Benny celebrated Valentine’s Day early by releasing “Scared of Loving You,” the lead single from their upcoming joint album I Said I Love You First, on Feb. 13.
Since hard launching their romance in December 2023, Selena and Benny haven’t shied away from putting their love on display. And for the Rare singer, who has often kept her personal life out of the spotlight, this wasn’t by accident. As she told the Hollywood Reporter in November, “I guess this is the safest I’ve ever felt in one and I see a future with this person.”
