Khloe Kardashian Reacts to Lamar Odom Calling Her His "Wife" During Emotional Reunion
Khloe Kardashian will always have a place in Lamar Odom's heart.
The reality star came face-to-face with her ex-husband for the first time in nine years during the Feb. 6 season six premiere of The Kardashians, with Lamar surprisingly still referring to her as his "wife."
After Khloe—who finalized her divorce from Lamar in 2016—handed back some of his belongings that were still in her possession, the former Los Angeles Lakers player joked, "My wife is the s--t."
"OK," the Good American founder quipped back, before brushing off his remark with a chuckle. "Calm down."
But there was a reason why Khloe was guarded with her feelings.
"I don’t have a lot of emotions for this meeting," she admitted in a confessional. "I have dealt with so much trauma in this relationship. For years, this was such the love of my life that to learn how to unlove someone, to have to go through all that, it's almost like a death."
The 40-year-old continued, "So, him calling me his wife, words are empty."
Besides, Khloe noted, "I don’t know this person anymore."
"This is so familiar and so unchartered all at the same time," she explained. "It's just a mindf--k."
Prior to their reunion, Khloe last saw Lamar last in May 2016, seven months after he had suffered a drug overdose at a Las Vegas brothel. According to Khloe, he was still "doing things he shouldn't have been doing" at the time, leading her to kick him out of her house.
"I had to break contact with him because Lamar was repeating some of the same behaviors that I just couldn't stand for," she recounted in her confessional. "I was shocked that he was repeating those behaviors himself, coming out of the whole Vegas accident."
Looking back, Khloe said that was the last straw in their marriage.
"I've given all I can give," she said of their relationship. "I've tried to help all that I can help."
Still, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum didn't want Lamar to feel "uncomfortable" during their meeting.
"Don't be nervous," she told him. "Everything's fine. I'm not going to do or say anything that's scary."
The calming assurance led Lamar to open up. As the 45-year-old told Khloe, "I took you through a lot."
"I love you for trying your hardest with me," he added. "That love, I don't think it'll ever go away. I know it won't."
